Cameras! Can't live with them, nor without them!

For those of "us" who have websites and sell online, we know the importance of having a good digital camera. For most of us, we depend on the Macros. Macros are when we need to take a close up of something. My first digital camera was a first generation Kodak. The Macros died in that camera. We who are jewelry designers know how important the Macros are. So I bought a second camera. A Sony Cyber Shot, and I have no clue what has happened to this one. It just died! I've only had it for three years. I was online with a Sony rep the other night and we tried to restore the camera back to it's default stage. It didn't work. He told me that I needed to take it into a Sony repair dealer. It's going to cost me $121.00 just to have them look at the camera! That doesn't count any of the repairs and labor. It's going to cost Way too much to fix it! So....I'm looking for a new camera! I'm OVERWHELMED!!! There are just so many out there. I just want the camera to take close up pictures. One would think that would be an easy choice, but NOOOO it isn't!

So, if any of you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know! I don't want to pay a lot, the dang things don't seem that last long. My last one I paid a small fortune for it, and it only lasted three years.

Maybe one of these old cameras will do? They seemed to have lasted a long time. My Dad had one of these when we were kids. I wonder where it is now?

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Peace~

OOOhh I feel your pain! I still have the sony model and yes you need the macros function , without it your pictures are pooo. Online at walmart ( I am not a huge fan but for information ) there is a sony 10 mp for 100.00 and a nikon 15 mp for 219 , considering I shelled out 300 bucks in 2006 for a sony 8 mp , those look like a good deal, if you are annoyed at sony , nikon has always made good products. ; )

Mountaindreamers, I paid over $500.00 for this Sony three years ago, so I'm so so sure I want to go down that road again. It does take grat pictures, I loved it. But it should have lasted a bit longer. Don't you think? I was leaning towards a Cannon or Nikon. They seem to have good reviews. But there's so many to pick from. I haven't a clue as to which one would be the best.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. :-)

I'm always overwhelmed by the choices when I shop for these things too. I realize that this is not very helpful, but I try to go to a store that doesn't have an overwhelming array of models to choose from, like Costco.

That's where I bought my Konica-Minolta and I love it.
I also have a small Nikon Coolpix that I use when I travel. I bought that on sale when it was "last year's model".

Good luck!
